Nero are an electronic, dubstep, drum and bass act from London that were formed in 2004 consisting of two members, Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray. Vocalist Alana Watson also provides vocals on a number of their songs. Their latest album, ‘Welcome Reality’ which was released on 12th August 2011 has been signed to MTA Records, owned by Chase & Status. Their album cover (image shown) is a very eye catching one. It looks very similar to a film advertisement, which makes it stand out, and it also makes it unique. They have put credits at the bottom of the cover, which relates to the film advertisement look they are going for. They have used one dominant image, which emphasizes the fact they are promoting a new genre of music (dubstep). There are also two people in the image, which symbolizes the two members of Nero, Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray. The image itself sort of symbolizes discovery and it perhaps suggests that they have finally made it into the ‘big time’ and they have achieved their dream of making it into the music industry. They have also used a big bold title to make it clear that it is their album. The font they have used links well with the image, which I think personally, is really good, as it will appeal to the audience. They haven’t used anything too clever or too fancy, they’ve just used original ideas that have made the cover appealing and unique which has made it successful.
